In February 2017 Jim formed a brand new vocal harmony group with 4 of his friends called 'ScotSoul', to take part in BBC1's exciting new Saturday night entertainment show 'Pitch Battle'. After months of rehearsals, the quintet appeared on the second ever episode of the show which aired on Saturday 17th June 2017. The group fought off some fierce competition on the show including a cappella sensation ‘Out Of The Blue’ and the amazing male swing quartet ‘The Fly Boys’ to be crowned heat winners by the legendary Chaka Khan, securing their place in the LIVE final on BBC1 in July.
The first ever BBC1 ‘Pitch Battle’ final aired LIVE on Saturday 22nd July 2017. Soul music legend Chaka Khan invited 'ScotSoul' to join her performing one of her all time classic hits, ‘I’m Every Woman’ before the group fought off tough competition from Tring Park 16 in order to perform an a cappella version of Sam Smith's 'Lay Me Down'. Although a stunning performance, the group secured a respectable top 3 position, having missed out to the amazing a cappella group 'All The King's Men' (runners up) and 'Leeds Contemporary Singers' (winners) as the top 2 acts.
'Pitch Battle' has without a doubt been the most amazing experience in Jim’s career to date.
Jim also featured on a British Academy award nominated documentary for BBC Scotland called "Viva Variety" and performed his debut song "Home Is Where The Heart Is" on BBC Newsnight back in 2014.
His Scottish music album 'Scotland Forever' is available on all digital download platforms and features the funny Scottish hit single 'Whit's Fur Ye'll No Go By Ye', plus 4 additional original tracks (including 'Home Is Where The Heart Is' above) and his own version of the traditional folk song 'Loch Lomond'
